The breath is a foundational tool in redirecting attention back to the present moment, calms the emotional part of our brain, and helps to recenter the body.
Below you will find the basic steps in a good strong belly breath.
Breathe—slow, deep belly breaths in and out through the nose.
Put your focus on the slow, controlled inhalation: the movement of a full breath into the belly, expand the stomach, and follow it up to the top of your collar bones.
Pause, and release, slowly and completely.
Allow yourself to be fully present with your breath.
